A Celebration of Life for

Bruce John Hansen

Services will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church in Kailua, Hawaii on August 31, 2024. Bruce's ashes will be scattered off Waikiki Beach.

Forever Remembered

Son, Brother, Husband, Uncle and Friend...

Bruce John Hansen, 84, of Honolulu, Hawaii, passed away on July 11, 2024 after suffering several strokes over the past twenty years.


Bruce was born on November 9, 1939, to John and Lucille Hansen in Estherville, Iowa. The family moved from Iowa to Portland, Oregon in 1952.  Bruce graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1957.  After a short stint in the Army as an MP Bruce decided he wanted to see the world and joined the Merchant Marines.  His world travels took him to Thailand, Japan, India, Arabia and several other countries.  In 1960 decided Hawaii was where he wanted to live and became active in the real estate market as a broker.  


Bruce lived in Waikiki and in 1969, Bruce met Karen Futa and they were married for a short time.  They had no children.


Bruce was predeceased by his parents John and Lucille.

He is survived by two brothers Byron and Ronald Hansen and their families and an Uncle.

Wayne Edwards of Portage, Wisconsin.


Bruce is fondly remembered by his nieces and nephews, Traci, Tami, Terri, Keoni, Aukai and Wainani who remember his kindness to them.


Services will be held at St. John Vianney Catholic Church on August 31.

He wishes his ashes to be scattered in the ocean off Waikiki Beach.
